Safe In Custody

Everyone has the right to be safe in custody. The goal is to make this a reality for all.

Across Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand, the APT helped support the transformation of partnerships between civil society partners, national human rights institutions and police.

The #SafeInCustody initiative focused on practical collaborations to strengthen safeguards in the critical first hours of detention, including replacing coercive interrogations with effective interviewing

Combining hope-based communication, youth engagement and digital innovation, the project has sparked renewed commitments to torture prevention among all the participating groups.

The goal is to use these experiences and inspire similar #SafeInCustody initiatives in other regions.
